ALL ABOUT ALPHA GAM
WHO WE ARE
Alpha Gamma Delta was officially founded on May 30th, 1904 at Syracuse University by 11 impactful women. The Gamma Alpha Chapter of Alpha Gam was brought to the University of Georgia in 1923 and is the third oldest sorority on campus. Our colors are red, buff, and green and our mascot is the squirrel. We are a group of women who strive to be “Loving, Leading, and Lasting.” Last year, we celebrated 100 years of our amazing Gamma Alpha sisterhood with 7 decades of alumni.
OUR PURPOSE
To gain understanding that wisdom may be vouchsafed to me.
To develop and prize health and vigor of body.
To cultivate acquaintance with many whom I meet.
To cherish friendships with but a chosen few and to study the perfecting of those friendships.
To welcome the opportunity of contributing to the world’s work in the community where I am placed because of the joy of service thereby bestowed and the talent of leadership multiplied.
To honor my home, my country, and my religious faith.
To hold truth inviolable, sincerity essential, and kindness invaluable.
To covet beauty in environment, manner, word, and thought.
To possess high ideals and obtain somewhat unto them.
This shall be my purpose that those who know me may esteem Alpha Gamma Delta for her attainments, revere her for her purposes, and love her for her womanhood.

Throughout my time, I have witnessed talented leadership, a close-knit sisterhood, and a commitment to service. These experiences have not only shaped my collegiate journey but have also prepared me for the future. As I transition into my role as a Leadership Consultant for International Headquarters, I am confident that the sisterhood I experienced in my four years as a collegiate member will help to inspire and guide other members of Alpha Gam.”

“Going into college, I prayed for a community at UGA that made me feel at home. This chapter and the community I’ve gained from it have been the answer to that prayer. The people here are intentional, life giving, and all that you could ask for in a group of friends. At Alpha Gam we use the saying, “530 Is Home” and that could not be more true with this group, because the people that make the place. I am so blessed by this home where I can fully be myself, knowing I have my sisters in my corner cheering me on! I couldn’t be more thankful for everything this chapter has given me, and for the ways it’s shaped me into the person I am today! I’d choose Alpha Gam all over again, every single time!”

Alpha Gam provides such a warm and accepting environment that ensures that all girls feel fully loved and celebrated. I am so lucky to be a part of this incredible sisterhood, and I’m so happy to say that Alpha Gam has already brought me many life-long friends!
