MACY BALL

CHAPTER PRESIDENT

Hey y’all! My name is Macy Ball, and I have the amazing privilege of serving Alpha Gam as Chapter President this year!

From the day I received my acceptance into the University of Georgia, I knew I wanted to find a group of women to navigate this new chapter of my life with. I was blown away by the sincerity and comfort I felt upon stepping through the doors of Alpha Gam during Round 2 of Primary Recruitment. The passion these women had for leaving their community a better place than they found it was so evident as I progressed through each round. Not only did I feel the love these girls had for the community of Athens, but I felt the love they had for the community of women they established within the walls of 530 S Milledge Avenue. Each member spoke about their sisters with such respect and kindness, and I knew these were the type of women I wanted to grow alongside over the next four years. My hope for finding an uplifting group of women was surpassed in every way imaginable. Going to such a large school can be frightening, but I have yet to experience a day on campus where I don't see a familiar face because of the connections Alpha Gam has given me. These women constantly remind me what it means to a woman with purpose. The girls of Alpha Gamma Delta push me to be the best friend, a diligent student, and someone who serves their chapter with the hopes of leaving a lasting impact on those around me for years to come.

One of my favorite lines in Alpha Gam’s purpose is “to cherish friendships”. Coming from out-of-state, I was constantly worried I wouldn’t be able to establish a solid foundation in this new phase of my life. This fear of mine is funny to look back on because it couldn’t be further from the truth. One thing I find so special about the connections I have made in Alpha Gam is that they truly emulate our values of loving, leading, and lasting. Alpha Gams are loving in that they find intentional ways to lift one another up in the good times and the bad. These girls will also push each other to be  courageous leaders in every aspect of their college careers, whether it’s within Alpha Gam or another organization on campus. Last but certainly not least, these friendships are lasting. I love when my sisters who have graduated come back to Athens and visit, or just call me on the phone to check-in. As scary as the start of college can be, I will never regret putting myself out there and fostering these friendships that I will hold close for the rest of my life!
